If you want to go to college, you may have heard other students talking about the SATS and you may be wondering just what the SATS are and why they are so important. Many students do not have an idea about the SATS, but you will need to if you definitely see college in your future. Many colleges will not even accept students who have not taken the SATS. The SATS
The SAT is a standardized test that high school students take when they are planning to go to college. These tests are designed for college admissions. The SATS are given by College Board. You may have heard of College Board or used their website to look up careers that you are interested in. This test is set in place to determine just how ready you are for college. This test will take you around three hours and 45 minutes to complete. Many students who take this test have to get up early on a Saturday morning to be at a testing location by 8 AM. When you arrive, you will only be allowed to use a pencil, a calculator and scrap paper for the test. You may not have a cell phone or anything else that will distract you or allow you to cheat. The test costs $49 to take, and you can take it more than once if you are unhappy with your score the first time around. The lowest you can score is a 600 and the highest is 2400. The higher you score, obviously the better. You will have sections on math, critical reading, and writing. The ACTS are a competing test. All of the skills tested are important when you are in college.
If you are opting to take the SATs, there are even courses offered in SAT prep. Your school may offer one for a grade or for credit, but places such as Kaplan offer online courses to help you get ready for the SATs as well. If you want to do your best, it is highly beneficial for you to complete one of these SAT prep courses. All in all, it can’t hurt! It can only help you to do your best.
What your score means
The SATS is a very important test that you will want to take when you are planning to go to college. While they may not seem like that big of a deal, they are and they are something you will want to do your best at. These are a partial determiner for where you will go to school and what you will do in your future. Consider taking an SAT prep course so that you are sure to do your best and if you do not like the score you got the first time, retake the SATS.
